Umar bin Khattab

Nafiel ibn Umar bin Abdul Uzza, or better known by Umar bin Khattab (581 - November 644) (Arabic: عمر ابن الخطاب) is one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad who was also the second caliph of Islam (634-644). Umar also is among four people who were classified as Caliph Caliph who is guided Caliph Ar-Rashidun.

Omar was born in the city of Mecca from the Banu Adi tribe, one family of the Quraysh tribe, the largest tribe in Mecca at that time. His father was Khattab ibn al Shimh Nufail Al Quraisyi Hantamah bint Hashim and his mother. Umar has a nickname given by Muhammad Al-Faruk ie that means people who can distinguish between truth and falsehood.

Umar's family belong to the middle-class family, he could read and write, which in those days was something rare. Umar also known for his powerful physique where he was a champion wrestler in Mecca.

Before embracing Islam, Umar is a very respected and revered by the inhabitants of Mecca, as is the tradition carried on by the ignorance of Mecca at that time, Umar also bury his daughter alive as part of a custom implementation of Mecca are still barbarians. After embracing Islam under Muhammad, Umar reportedly regretted his actions and realizes his folly was as narrated in a hadith "I cried when digging graves for my daughter. He developed and then comb my beard".

Umar also known as a heavy drinker, some accounts say that during the pre-Islam, Umar like to drink wine. After becoming a Muslim, he did not touch alcohol at all, although the ban has not reduced drinking alcohol (intoxicating) explicitly.
